Ms. Sharon from the Sulzer Branch of CPL visited our K-5 students on Wednesday to talk about the new Summer Learning Challenge, Explore and Soar. The program has a space theme this year and she brought news of a lot of exciting opportunities for kids this summer. There are wonderful books and programs that will be available to them at Sulzer and other CPL branches.
Students took home a registration form (new this year) that they can either return to school or to the library completed by June 8th. This will enter them into a raffle for seats at a direct-from-space storytime that will take place in Sulzer’s auditoroium. NASA astronauts will be reading stories to what is sure to be a captive audience!
The program runs until August 2nd. If you have any questions, you can visit the Sulzer’s page on the CPL website.
Students that received a letter from Ms. Gemo last week regarding an overdue or missing books need to get those books in by THIS FRIDAY.
You will need to either find the book and return it or pay the replacement cost listed on the note.
Please be aware that any books not turned in or paid for will result in your child’s report card being held. Also, if your child is a graduating eighth grader or kindergartener, the book or replacement cost will need to be paid before your child can attend the ceremony.
Thank you for your help in making sure our books make it back to the library!
This week, we are voting on which book character is going on vacation with Mrs. Susina this year!
In the past, Pete the Cat, Gerald and Piggie, and Pigeon have visited places like Jackson Hole, the Rocky Mountains, Nashville with Mrs. Susina.
This summer, popular characters Knufflebunny, Babymouse, Clifford and Ivan the gorilla are waiting for their chance. The winner will be announced next week.
We will also be sharing picture books and chapter books together.
All library books were due back to the library last Friday, May 15th. The majority of books have been returned, but we still have about 50 or so that are overdue.
I will be sending out final notices on Thursday or Friday. If you DO receive one of these letters from Ms. Gemo, you will need to either find the book and return it or pay the replacement cost listed on the note. If you DO NOT receive this letter, your child has turned all books in.
Thank you for your help in making sure our books make it back to the library
This week, we are looking at book trailers for some of the books on the 2016 Monarch, Bluestem, and Caudill lists.
The students love getting a sneak peek at these books and they can even get a jump on things by picking these books up from the library over the summer.
Print copies of the lists will be sent home in September, but I have included the links below so you can download them now.

We had 39 students join us for the last book club of the year!
Everyone seemed to enjoy “Roller Girl” and had a lot of interesting comments and questions. We are looking forward to adding more graphic novels to our book clubs next school year.
We tweeted pictures from our book club and the author responded with “I love these pictures! Thank you!”
We had 25 happy students pick up their autographed books, puzzles, ornaments, etc., this week.
